MEET THE PROTAGONISTS
Leading figures in the European fight against tobacco in
POLAND

Professor Witold Zatoński
Maria Curie Skłodowska Institute
Professor Zatoński has worked in cancer research since the late 1970’s.  He talks about smoking and cancer in Poland since the Second World War, the steps that have been taken to reduce tobacco usage, and the current work that is still to be done.  One of the leading advocates against tobacco, he comments on the social, political and medical requirements in overcoming the tobacco dependence epidemic.

Magdalena Petryniak
Manko Association
Complementing Professor Zatoński’s comments, Magda describes Manko Association’s “Smoke Free Zones” campaign which lobbies for smoke free establishments and has produced a national guide to smoke free hospitality establishments.  Manko is also active in targeting their tobacco information campaign, working with the media and developing a cooperative coalition with other organisations.
